Voodoo Tarot of New Orleans

Voodoo Tarot

Voodoo Tarot of New Orleans by Sallie Ann Glassman.
A strong and powerful deck. There is enough magic in the deck & book to get you into serious trouble and nothing to get you out of trouble once you get in. Remember that in all forms of magic, it’s easier to get into trouble & harder to get out of it than novices imagine. On the other hand, there’s nothing here that will kill you. As for the “real stuff”, there’s not a trace. If you want that (and you probably do, that’s why you’re reading this), you’ll still have to find a magician to initiate you. Here’s a useful hint: As long as you’re looking for him, he’ll avoid you. It’s not personal, it’s just the western version of “one hand clapping”.

SIGN OF THE MONTH: CANCER

Cancer

The Crab. June 22 to July 22.
The Cancerian has many potential faults. They can be untidy, sulky, devious, moody, inclined to self-pity because of an inferiority complex, brood on insults (very often imagined), yet are easily flattered. They can be tactless and difficult yet, because they are normally ambitious, they will curry favor by floating with majority opinions, outlooks and fashions of the day. As a result they often change their opinions and loyalties and, indeed, their occupations, and lack stability. They are easily corrupted and, because they are convincing romanticizers, can make successful confidence tricksters. Their romanticism in another sense make them ardent supporters of causes, for example a football team with whose heroes they can identify in a world of fantasy.

SIGN OF THE MONTH GEMINI

gemini

SIGN OF THE MONTH GEMINI (MAY21 – JUNE21):
Gemini (the twins) is a very complex and confusing sign. To some people you can seem like a wonderful friend, while to others you will seem two-faced and sneaky.

I Ching

I Ching

At first glance the I Ching seems like a great chowder of images. Familiar, ordinary ones: a bowl, spoon, window, wheel. Urban, pastoral, alleyways, cows. Bizarre, fairy tale. And there are snatches of strange stories imbedded in fortune cookie epigrams, common sense amid gibberish.
Beneath it all, sixty-four hexagrams. A geometrical reiteration of two elements whose values are the simple inversion of each other (open/closed, black/white, zero/one; broken/ unbroken; male/female [cable connections, plugs]. Responsive/ receptive). Pure, whole numbers. Each hexagram has a name, and from that name come images. From the images come implications and from those implications come potential actions. Each hexagram: the systematic, natural, patterned unfolding of a cycle in graphic form.

Eliphaz Levi and the Tarot

Although the origins of the Tarot are perfectly obscure, there is a very interesting piece of quite modern history, history well within the memory of living man, which is extremely significant, and will be found, as the thesis develops, to sustain it in a very remarkable way. In the middle of the nineteenth century, there arose a very great Qabalist and scholar, who still annoys dull people by his habit of diverting himself at their expense by making fools of them posthumously. His name was Alphonse Louis Constant, and he was an AbbĂ© of the Roman Church. For his “nom-de-guerre” he translated his name into Hebrew-Eliphas Levi Zahed, and he is very generally known as Eliphas Levi. Eliphas Levi was a philosopher and an artist, besides being a supreme literary stylist and a practical joker of the variety called “Pince sans rire”; and, being an artist and a profound symbolist, he was immensely attracted by the Tarot.

The origin of the Tarot

The origin of this pack of cards is very obscure. Some authorities seek to put it back as far as the ancient Egyptian Mysteries; others try to bring it forward as late as the fifteenth or even the sixteenth century. But the Tarot certainly existed, in what may be called the classical form, as early as the fourteenth century; for packs of that date are extant, and the form has not varied in any notable respect since that time.

Past Life Readings

Choosing a Significator

The Court Cards

Find any five tarot readers, and you will find five different ways to choose a Significator. A Significator is that one particular card that symbolizes the person asking for a reading. About the only thing readers will agree on is that the Significator should be a Court card, and even then some take exception!
As far as human attributes are concerned, each of the court cards represents a coloring and temperament for a man or woman. Knights, Kings and Queens are said to represent men and women who have been or are married. Princes and Princesses represent men and women who have never been married. Princesses can also represent children, male and female.
